So what exactly does a joiners shop do? I have found some confusion recently. When telling some that we are a joiners shop the response is “ahh yes, you do chairs and furniture, don’t you?” Well yes we can build very nice furniture and we have, but that is more a cabinet makers job. We are a carpentry and joinery company. We work in both the commercial side and the domestic side.

So for Architects, Surveyors and Builders, we make shopfronts and can shopfit. We design and build staircases, we build and supply and install second fix joinery, doors (internal & external), skirtings, architraves and any orther timber / wood product that is needed. This is on a commercial scale and so volume is probably key.

For the homeowner, we can provide replacement timber windows, new kitchens, supplied and fitted. New fitted bedroom furniture, consevatories, gates or even a new porch on gallows brackets.

The lists above are not exhaustive but I hope, give you an indication of what we can do.

Call and speak to Ed or Rob, we will advise on what’s best and it doesn’t cost you to ask. We will give you a free quotation as well.

Custom made timber hardwood windows

The first I would ask you to consider is the type of property you have. It is important to remember that windows are the “face of the house.” In Conservation Areas the type of windows used may be dictated by local planning restrictions. However wood is a versatile material enabling you to custom build your windows to suit (bespoke) your property and preference. If your home is traditional or modern timber windows can be built to perfectly match. Wooden windows perfectly combine with parquet flooring, timber doors and of course timber furniture.
Wooden windows are available in a variety of materials such as mahogany, cherry, oak, douglas fir and pine. Each timber has its own unique properties and your timber window manufacturer can explain the different options. Wood windows are popular for their longevity, versatility and effective insulating qualities.

A few points to remember about timber windows:

Remember good quality wood windows are an investment as well as being aesthetically pleasing.
Come in a wide array of custom colours and designs
Low maintenance. Wood windows not only provide energy efficiency but also are easily replaced and paint.
Wood replacement windows can be finished to protect against deterioration
Warm. Wood is a natural insulator and wood windows can be double or even triple glazed for fantastic energy efficiency.

Take a look at our gallery for examples of wooden doors, windows flooring and wooden gates.

Sustainable timber for the manufacture of timber wooden windows

For the environmentally conscious buyer, timber windows are a wise choice due to the sustainability of timber. Many of the timbers used in the manufacturing industry carry accreditations to certify they come from a reputable and sustainable source. This adds extra piece of mind knowing your windows have had a minimal impact on the environment.

Are you looking to improve your home, but aren’t quite sure how to do it?

Maybe there is that one small touch that you feel would add a great deal of class to your surroundings, but you can neither define it, nor afford it. Well, it’s time to stop thinking so negatively, we can give your home or office the sparkle it needs at a price you can afford. There are a variety of ways we can help you, and all come through offering a quality product such as one of the following:

Doors: Joinery is a classic form of woodworking that can be used to create almost any structure. One you should keep in mind if you hope to create a quality environment is a door. E&R Joinery use their advanced skills in woodworking, as well as a variety of timber products to create elegant looks that will fit into any environment. We will determine which one works best for you by taking stock of your surroundings and matching the appropriate material with your theme. So you can be sure of what you want before the work ever begins.

Gates: A nice wooden gate is another way to add class, elegance, and a touch of privacy to your home or office surroundings, but also what looks best for the property in question. Don’t be afraid to ask us questions, seek consultation, and accept experienced advice.

Windows: Using E & R Joinery to create one-of-a-kind window displays for your home or office will not only provide a captivating look and feel for your surroundings, but will also serve a function. We can also refurbish existing windows, casement or sash style. We are happy to match the doors and the windows throughout the building.

Staircases: Staircases should serve a function, but they should also be most pleasing to the eye and durable for your health and safety. That’s where we come in. E & R Joinery can create staircases made to measure that hold up over time and add aesthetic value. Never hesitate to ask questions about what the best look is, how long you can count on it to serve its purpose, and how much it will cost.

Mouldings and Turnings: Sometimes the real beauty of a home or building lies in its subtleties. Keep that in mind as you look to redo, create, or restore mouldings, skirtings or architraves to their original grace and beauty.

E & R Joinery are here to answer questions and make your design dreams into solid realities. All you need is an idea of what you want and a willingness to ask questions. In return, we will give you answers as well as a place that you can truly be proud of.

Good morning,

This is the first real post on the new site. The site has been up and running for a few weeks now and we are getting some positive feedback. The site looks clean, is easy to get around and our contact details are clear and simple. I am loving the gallery. In the lightbox format the examples of the joinery works look fantastic. We welcome your comments on any of the works we display.

So what have we been up to.

At the moment we are finishing off an order for Vast construction. This consists of constructing box frame sash windows.

Ready to install, new painted with ironmongery.

The windows are to be installed into a refurbished victorian property in the west of London. The specification was of a very high quality. The largest of the windows we constructed was over 2 metres high.

We have also supplied casement style windows. We are also to supply one double door set and one single door. All with hardwood frames and cills. Following installation we will post some pictures in the Gallery.

We have also finished a beautiful pair of hardwood Oak gates.

Imposing pair of oak gates

We are looking at lots of quotes at the moment but business has not returned to the levels of a couple of years ago. Heres hoping that things improve soon.

If you have any questions about timber in general, or flooring, windows or even doors. Send an email to Rob, info@er-joinery.com . Or leave a comment here, we want to answer your questions on all things timber. Our advice and quotes
